Position Summar

The Residential Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems in private homes. This role involves troubleshooting electrical issues, upgrading wiring and service panels, ensuring code compliance, and delivering high-quality customer service. The electrician works with hand and power tools, interprets blueprints, and follows all safety and electrical codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation & Upgrades
• Install wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and electrical panels.
• Upgrade outdated wiring and electrical service panels.
• Install smart home systems, generators, GFCI/AFCI devices, and home automation components.
• Run conduits, pull wire, and connect electrical components safely.
• Maintenance & Repair
• Diagnose electrical problems in homes and recommend solutions.
• Repair or replace faulty wiring, fixtures, switches, and breakers.
• Perform routine electrical maintenance to prevent hazards.
• Ensure all work meets national, state, and local electrical codes.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow OSHA, NEC (National Electrical Code), and local building regulations.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
• Use electrical testing equipment and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) properly.
• Identify and report potential safety hazards.
• Customer Service & Communication
• Interact professionally with homeowners and contractors.
• Provide clear explanations of work, pricing, and options.
• Prepare and maintain accurate job documentation, service reports, and material lists.
• Coordinate with team members to complete projects on schedule.
• Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
• State electrician license (Journeyman or Master) required or in progress depending on location.
• Experience in residential electrical work strongly preferred.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems and NEC requirements.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
• Proficiency with electrical testing instruments and power tools.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in crawl spaces, attics, and tight areas.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.

Work Environment

• Residential homes, construction sites, remodels, and service calls.
• Exposure to electricity, heights, confined spaces, dust, heat/cold, and construction noise.
• May include overtime, weekend, or emergency on-call work.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, crawling in tight spaces.
• Ability to handle tools and materials throughout the workday.
