Job Summary:

The Mechanical Journeyman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. This role requires advanced knowledge of mechanical principles, tools, and safety practices, and may involve working independently or as part of a team to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, pumps, compressors, and conveyors.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform corrective actions using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other trades (electrical, plumbing, etc.) as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Train apprentices or junior technicians as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Valid journeyman license or certification in mechanical trade.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and procedures (e.g., OSHA).
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in confined spaces or at heights.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
