Job Title: Medical Assistant/PhlebotomistLocation: Primary office with weekly travel to Clewiston, FLHours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PMCompensation: $25/hour + ~5 hours overtime weekly (paid drive time to Clewiston on Tuesdays)
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Medical Assistant Phlebotomist to join a healthcare team. This role involves performing venipunctures and other specimen collection procedures, preparing specimens for laboratory analysis, and supporting clinical staff by updating patient charts and performing bedside tests. Candidates should be detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Collects blood specimens through venipuncture and fingerstick techniques.
Prepares specimens for laboratory testing and ensures timely transportation.
Performs bedside procedures such as glucose monitoring and bleeding-time tests.
Maintains specimen integrity through proper aseptic techniques and adherence to department protocols.
Updates patient records accurately and promptly.
Verifies test requisitions with nursing station logs; addresses discrepancies as needed.
Ensures quality control through proper documentation and testing protocols.
Tracks specimen collection by recording date, time, and technician initials.
Coordinates therapeutic drug-monitoring assays with nursing staff to ensure proper timing.
Resolves test order issues by consulting with physicians, nursing stations, or laboratories.
Ensures a safe and compliant work environment by following hospital policies and legal guidelines.
Participates in ongoing education and maintains certifications to stay current with phlebotomy standards.
Contributes to departmental goals by taking initiative and seeking opportunities to improve processes.
Certified Phlebotomist (CPT or equivalent)
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience in phlebotomy or clinical laboratory setting
Familiarity with medical terminology and patient charting systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Reliable transportation for weekly travel to Clewiston, FL (paid drive time)
Note: This role includes approximately 5 hours of overtime weekly, including travel time for Tuesday shifts at the Clewiston office.
