Position Summary
As a Vehicle Support Center Specialist, you will become an expert on engine systems, provide fast and accurate support to dealer technicians, deliver detailed data on emerging issues related to engines and aftertreatment systems, and serve as the first point of contact across multiple divisions.
Schedule: This department runs 24/7. Training period (typically 3 months), Day shift Monday-Friday.
Provide direct technical support to dealer technicians by identifying customer concerns, reviewing prior troubleshooting, and offering rapid, accurate diagnostic guidance using the internal case management tool
Follow up on repair progress to ensure maximum uptime and timely return of vehicles to service
Deliver software support for engine applications requiring special approvals, regulatory compliance, or additional research
Collaborate with multiple divisions to certify and test new diagnostic tools and support continuous improvement initiatives
Escalate complex issues to engineering, documentation, customer service, and management teams as needed
Document and report product quality concerns and improvement opportunities to relevant departments
Maintain engine certifications and stay current on evolving systems and technologies
Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Technical degree and/or bachelor’s degree preferred
Ability to maintain technical certifications
Skilled at managing multiple tasks and producing high-quality, high-volume output
Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment and adapt to changing schedules
Strong decision-making skills under pressure with limited supervision
Excellent customer service and negotiation abilities
Team-oriented mindset
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general PC skills
Minimum 3 years of experience in vehicle and diesel engine diagnostics or 5 years general service technician experience
Solid understanding of mechanical systems and ability to diagnose component/system failures
Strong grasp of electrical system theory and troubleshooting techniques
Familiarity with industry diagnostic tools and current EPA requirements, including On-Board Diagnostics (OBD)
