Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer is responsible for purchasing quality materials, supplies and services to support manufacturing. The Buyer will qualify suppliers in accordance with ISO 13485 requirements, negotiate contracts and maintain key performance indicators that will drive departmental improvements. Must be willing and able to make long term decisions as well as quality short term decisions that contribute directly to the team goals and business objectives. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (included, but not limited to): 

 Create, issue and manage purchase orders in ERP system

 Proactively respond to manufacturing requirements by expediting, cancelling or delaying purchases as needed

 Work with suppliers to resolve any quality or material availability issues in a time frame that does not impact the production schedule 

 Work closely with cross functional teams to communicate potential and/or confirmed issues

 Ensure inventory levels commensurate with production and sales volumes

Primary Competencies:

 Strong organizational skills, a good understanding of sourcing and the ability to maintain both internal and external relationships

 Strict attention to detail and accuracy

 Problem Solving 

Education/Experience:  

 At least 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

 ISO 13485 or other QMS experience preferred 

Computer Skills:  

 Microsoft Office Suite Software, particularly Word and Excel

 A solid understanding of how MRP and ERP works

Work Environment/Physical Demands:  

Office environment using a computer most of the day. There will be times when the Buyer will need to spend time out on the production and warehouse floor. Must be able to lift and move material when needed. Must be able for sit for long periods of time at a computer workstation
