About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong Plant Engineer to lead maintenance and engineering projects in a fast-paced, small-team environment. This role requires deep maintenance expertise, including troubleshooting, prioritizing and delegating work, and coordinating repairs with millwrights and electricians. You will oversee the creation, assignment, and completion of work orders while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

In addition to daily maintenance leadership, you will manage engineering and capital projects from planning through execution—ensuring timelines, resources, and budgets are met. Strong time-management, versatility, and communication skills are essential, as you will act as a key liaison between operations, maintenance, and external partners to support ongoing improvements and plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and supervise the maintenance team and outside contractors.
• Champion safe work practices and ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs, procedures, and schedules.
• Plan and oversee capital projects, budgeting, and cost-control initiatives.
• Provide engineering support to operations and production teams to achieve plant performance goals.
• Manage the departmental budget including forecasting and expense control.
• Support and participate in EHS and quality audits, ensuring full compliance.
• Drive Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives for continuous improvement.
• Administer and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong background in plant maintenance, project management, and process optimization.
• Proven ability to apply engineering principles and relevant codes (TSSA, CSA, ESA).
• Experience managing capital budgets, maintenance programs, and external contractors.
• Skilled communicator with strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in CMMS and computer-based maintenance tools.

Compensation & Benefits
