Dry Coating Operator

Located in Upland, CA

Salary: $18 to $22 DOE

Coating Operator is responsible for applying precision dry lubricant coatings (tungsten disulfide) to metal and other parts. The operator will perform all phases of the coating process, including part preparation, masking, and application, while maintaining strict quality control and safety standards. 

 

• Part preparation: Clean, degrease, and prepare components for the coating process.
• Masking: Use masking tape or other materials to carefully tape off areas where the coating is not required, as specified in customer instructions.
• Coating application: Use specialized equipment to apply the Dicronite coating uniformly to parts.
• Quality inspection: Inspect coated parts under a microscope to ensure the coating meets specifications and is free from defects.
• Documentation: Record data and ensure that all work instructions and customer requirements are followed precisely.
• Material handling: Move parts and materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs., to and from workstations.
• Maintenance: Clean and maintain equipment and the work area to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
• Safety compliance: Follow all safety protocols, especially when working with cleaning agents like isopropyl alcohol and mineral spirits.
• Collaboration: Work with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines. 

 

• Prior experience in coating, sandblasting, or spray booth operations is often required.
• Strong attention to detail is critical, especially when working with costly and precise parts for industries like aerospace.
• Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have regular and prompt attendance.
• Experience with quality inspection techniques and equipment is a plus.
