Job Description

This role involves setting up and performing machining operations on various metals, castings, forgings, and fabrications using manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment. The Manual Machinist will work from production schedules, blueprints, and technical specifications to produce precision parts. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical skill, and the ability to verify all finished components for accuracy and conformance.

Responsibilities for the Job

• Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine measurements, tolerances, and operation sequences.
• Select, align, and secure tools, holding fixtures, attachments, and materials for machining.
• Calculate and set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
• Retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control data as needed.
• Inspect and verify dimensions and tolerances of finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Follow the production schedule or verbal instructions from production control.
• Ensure parts meet all quality and specification requirements.

Experience Required

• 3–5 years of experience in manual machining or a related field or equivalent education and experience.
• Proven ability to use precision measuring tools.
• Ability to set up and operate major and minor manual machines.

Skills Required

• Proficiency with dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, scales, and tape measures.
• Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills for calculating machining factors.
• Ability to operate forklift and lifting devices.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds frequently.

Skills Preferred

• Experience machining pump components or similar industrial equipment.
• Advanced troubleshooting and setup skills on multiple manual machines.
• Strong background in metal fabrication tolerances and finishing.

Work Schedule

• Monday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Tuesday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Wednesday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Thursday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Friday 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
