Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring for an Deli Assistant Manager for a large, locally owned and operated Market in East Baton Rouge.  This client is looking for someone with a great customer service, a positive attitude and people skills. This person MUST have OPEN availability and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support all areas of deli operations-front counter, kitchen, production).

• Strong focus on customer service and team motivation.

• Hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and, if necessary, terminate deli staff.

• Compliance with health, safety, and operational standards.

• Control labor and food costs while meeting budget and sales goals.

• Manage vendor relationships, including food orders and invoice processing.

• Address and resolve customer complaints and employee concerns effectively.

• Maintain proper documentation for personnel files and staff performance.

• Provide hands-on support and perform all duties as needed within the deli.

• Utilize POS systems (Positouch) and Microsoft Office tools to support operations.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience in a deli, restaurant, or food service environment.

• Ability to manage and develop a team of 40+ employees.

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a problem-solving mindset.

• Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude.

• Proficient in using computers and software (MS Office, POS systems, Internet).

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to communicate clearly with team members and guests.

• Able to move freely throughout all areas of the store.

• Capable of lifting and handling merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Comfortable climbing ladders and operating store equipment.

• Flexible availability including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.
