Job Title: Recycling Sorter / General Labor
Location: Summerdale, AL 
Pay: $15/hr
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)

Job Summary:
We are seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join a recycling facility team. This is a full-time, permanent position on the Express Employment Professionals payroll. Associates will work in a fast-paced, loud manufacturing environment, performing repetitive sorting and inspection tasks to support daily operations.

Important Notes:
• This is not a temporary position – associates remain on Express payroll long-term
• Work environment is loud due to large recycling machinery
• Standing all day is required
• Water and Gatorade are provided onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform repetitive inspection and sorting of recyclable materials (plastics, metals, paper, glass)
• Sort materials from a fast-moving conveyor belt (60–65 items per minute)
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility (sweeping, raking, debris removal)
• Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently
• Inspect incoming materials for contamination and quality
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines
• Assist team members in meeting daily production goals
• Perform general manual labor as needed

Qualifications & Skills:

• Ability to identify and distinguish recyclable materials
• Strong time management and ability to maintain pace in repetitive work
• Experience operating or working around machinery preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to communicate and follow instructions (verbal and written)

Physical & Work Requirements:

• Stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions
• Lift, push, and pull materials (up to 100 lbs at times)
• Work around moving conveyor systems and heavy machinery
• Climb stairs, work on catwalks, and in elevated areas
• Perform manual labor in a fast-paced environment
• Work in conditions with noise, odors, dust, heat, cold, and other environmental factors

Additional Requirements:

• Must be willing to work 8–10 hour shifts, including overtime and weekends as needed
• Must follow all PPE requirements (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, vest, hard hat, gloves, ear protection)
• Willingness to assist operators and higher-level technicians as needed
