General Manager — Operations (Manufacturing / Small Business)
Location: North York, ON
Type: Full-time, Senior Leadership
Why this role matters
You’ll run the show for a respected leather brand that recently joined forces with a well-known global leather supplier — giving you the rare combo of small-business impact plus broader distribution and product depth.
About the brand
Client company is a Toronto-based leather specialist with an extensive stocked portfolio and long standing design focus.
The role
Lead operations, production and client service for a high-quality leather manufacturer—turning good processes into great ones, and making sure product and people perform every day.
What you’ll own
- End-to-end operations: shipping, sampling, receiving, inventory & QA — make it accurate, on time, repeatable.
- Cut & sew production leadership: hit quality targets, reduce rework, improve throughput.
- Client Services: raise the bar on response times and customer satisfaction.
- Purchasing & vendor management: negotiate smarter, manage stock, control costs.
- Continuous improvement: find bottlenecks, implement fixes, measure results.
- People leadership: recruit, coach and develop multi-discipline teams; create a positive shop culture.
- Operational reporting: own KPIs, ERP/inventory data, and action plans.
Who will thrive here
- You’re a hands-on operator who’s strategic enough to partner with leadership and granular enough to pick up a tape measure.
- You’ve had 7–10 years running multi-department operations (manufacturing, production or similar). Small business or boutique manufacturing experience is a big plus.
- You know supply chain basics—shipping, receiving, inventory, procurement—and you’ve improved processes with limited resources.
- You’re comfortable with ERP/inventory tools and with making decisions from data.
- Strong communicator and coach: you build teams that get stuff done.
Nice to have
- Degree in Business/Operations (or equivalent experience). PMP, Six Sigma, or similar credentials welcome.
- Experience in textiles, upholstery, leather, or related manufacturing.
What’s in it for the right leader
- Real operational autonomy and the chance to shape a brand that’s expanding through a larger wholesale/showroom network.
- A role that blends people leadership, process improvement, and direct operational impact — not a desk job masked as “operations”.
- Opportunity to grow beyond the General Manager role.
- Salary of up to $135K / year
- 4 weeks paid vacation
- HSA + Benefits
