The Tax Preparation Specialist will assist individuals and businesses with the preparation and filing of accurate tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is ideal for both experienced preparers and entry-level candidates eager to build a career in tax services. Free training and PTIN assistance available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file individual and business income tax returns.
• Review financial documents and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Identify potential deductions, credits, and adjustments to optimize client outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge of IRS regulations and state tax laws.
• Provide professional, courteous, and confidential service to all clients.
• Communicate with clients to gather additional documentation as needed.
• Support audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Prior tax preparation experience is a plus but not required.
• A valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) is required to prepare returns; assistance is available for obtaining a PTIN.
• Free training is available for qualified candidates to develop the necessary technical and compliance skills.
• Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries) preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with a high level of integrity and attention to detail.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Standard weekday hours, with extended or flexible scheduling during tax season.
• Hybrid or remote opportunities may be available.

Compensation:

• Competitive commission rate based on experience.
• Independent contractors.
