We are looking to hire a Senior Accountant

 

Duties

General Ledger Management

• Maintain and manage the general ledger, including the setup and oversight of the chart of accounts.
• Record and adjust journal entries as needed to ensure accurate financial records.
• Apply debits and credits appropriately to reflect business transactions.

Financial Statement Preparation

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Review and analyze financial statements to identify trends, variances, or inconsistencies.

Accounts Payable (AP) and Receivable (AR)

• Process all accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment runs, and expense reimbursements.
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, cash application, collections, and aging report reviews.

Bank Reconciliation

• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank activity and general ledger records.

 

Payroll Processing

• Process biweekly/monthly payroll and ensure timely payroll tax submissions.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Month-End and Year-End Close

• Participate in and/or lead the month-end close process, including reconciliation of all key accounts.
• Prepare and post accruals, deferrals, and closing journal entries.
• Assist in the year-end close and support tax and audit preparation.

Tax Knowledge

• Ensure compliance with sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax regulations.
• Prepare or assist in issuing 1099s and W-2s.
• Collaborate with external CPAs or tax professionals during year-end tax preparation.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in the creation and maintenance of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual results against budgets and report on budget variances.
• Support management with financial planning and analysis as needed.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Maintain and enforce internal accounting controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) or other financial regulations as applicable.
• Prepare documentation for financial audits and assist with auditor inquiries.

 ERP / Accounting Software Proficiency

• Utilize accounting software to manage financial data and generate reports.
• Maintain accurate records within the accounting system and ensure software is used efficiently.
• Support or lead accounting system implementations or migrations, when applicable.
