Yard Assistant

Express Employment Professionals is seeking dependable, hardworking Yard Assistants to support daily operations for a local company in East Prairie, MO.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, performing general maintenance, and assisting with warehouse and yard activities.

The Yard Assistant will play a key role in loading materials, maintaining equipment, supporting fertilizer operations, and ensuring the yard and warehouse remain clean, organized, and safe.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hooking and unhooking trailers for loading and transportation.
• Load liquid and dry fertilizer into trailers and designated containers.
• Perform general yard and warehouse cleanup, including sweeping, organizing, and maintaining work areas.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the facility.
• Operate forklifts, front-end loaders, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
• Run errands and pick up parts or supplies as needed using company vehicles.
• Perform basic equipment maintenance, including:
  • Changing hoses
  • Oil changes
  • Greasing equipment
  • Replacing filters
  • Assisting with minor repairs
• Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe operating condition.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Assist team members with additional yard, warehouse, and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, agricultural, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts and/or front-end loaders preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance experience are a strong plus.
• Ability to safely operate equipment and follow established procedures.
• Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work around agricultural products, equipment, and machinery safely.
