Medical Assistant - Aesthetic and IV Services

This position provides direct clinical support for body contouring procedures, laser treatments, and IV infusion therapy under the supervision of a licensed physician or advanced practice provider. The Medical Assistant must comply with all federal, state, and facility regulations, maintaining a safe environment and following established protocols for patient care.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients, treatment rooms, and equipment for procedures in accordance with OSHA, HIPAA, and facility infection-control standards
  • Perform patient assessments, including vital signs, and document findings in the medical record
  • Administer IV infusions, monitor patient status, and document all interventions under the supervision of a licensed provider
  • Assist with body contouring treatments and operate devices as delegated by the supervising provider
  • Operate Class I-IV lasers only after completing state-approved laser safety training, under appropriate supervision
  • Maintain equipment calibration, perform routine safety checks, and follow manufacturer guidelines
  • Accurately document all treatments and patient interactions in compliance with state and federal record-keeping requirements
  • Follow emergency protocols for adverse reactions or complications
  • Maintain strict adherence to the scope of practice as defined by Florida law

Required Licensure & Certifications (Florida)

  • Active Florida Medical Assistant Credential - Certified (CMA), Registered (RMA), or equivalent recognized by the Florida Department of Health
  • IV Therapy Certification - Completion of a Florida-approved IV therapy training course
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association or equivalent (current)
  • Laser Safety Certification - Documented completion of ANSI Z136.1-compliant laser safety training specific to devices used
  • Body Contouring/Device Training Certificate - Documented proof of manufacturer-approved or accredited training on each device utilized

Regulatory & Compliance Requirements

  • Work under written protocols and supervision of a Florida-licensed MD, DO, APRN, or PA, as applicable
  • Comply with Florida Department of Health rules for non-physician clinical personnel performing delegated duties
  • Maintain continuing education as required for certification renewals
  • Adhere to OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard and facility-specific infection control procedures
  • Participate in regular safety audits and compliance training

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass background screening and credential verification before hire
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times per HIPAA
