Controller Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes and reporting processes
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Monitor project costs, job profitability, work-in-progress reporting, and contract accounting activities
• Partner with project managers and operations teams to evaluate performance and cost variances
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies
• Coordinate external audits, tax reporting requirements, and financial compliance activities
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to executive leadership
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and increase profitability
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Progressive accounting experience with financial leadership responsibilities
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting management experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
• Construction, manufacturing, industrial services, or project-based accounting experience preferred
• Knowledge of job costing, project billing, and work-in-progress schedules preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
