A Quality Control Technician ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards before reaching customers. They perform inspections, conduct tests, and analyze data to identify defects and recommend improvements. This role is essential in maintaining product integrity, safety, and compliance across industries such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food production, and electronics.
Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products for defects or deviations
Conduct laboratory tests and use precision instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, spectrometers)
Document inspection results and maintain detailed quality records
Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions
Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., ISO, FDA, GMP)
Calibrate and maintain testing equipment
Participate in internal audits and support external inspections
Train staff on quality procedures and best practices
High school diploma or GED (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
Experience in quality assurance or manufacturing environments
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
Familiarity with statistical process control and quality software
Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Certification in quality control (e.g., ASQ) is a plus
Typically based in a lab or production facility
May require standing for long periods and handling testing equipment
Reports to the Quality Manager or Production Supervisor
