Machine Operators (Evergreen)

Located in Mississauga, ON

Salary: $20 to $22 an hour

JOB TITLE: Machine Operators

PURPOSE: Producing a variety of parts or pieces as per customer requests

REPORTS TO: Lead Hand and Operations Manager

HOURS OF WORK: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

(From time to time it may be necessary to perform overtime work to meet customer requirements.)

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Cut pieces using hand and electric shears, plate shears, wire cutter, nibbler and other means.

· Rolling parts using various rollers.

· Slit material to width using slitter machine.

· Weld panels and parts using spot welding/press welding equipment.

· Set up all equipment where necessary and possible.

· Limit the amount of scrap produced through careful set up and performance of job duties, as well as continued monitoring of parts to ensure quality.

· Assisting with packaging and shipping as required.

· Other duties / tasks as required.

Quality Control:

· Ensuring that all parts are made to the highest of quality standards as set out by work order instructions, Lead Hand instructions and documented standards.

· Reporting equipment problems or concerns that cause or may cause quality issues.

Safety:

· Immediately reporting any unsafe work conditions or practices that are observed including fellow employees, equipment, and workplace conditions

· Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace at all times.

· Following and adhering to the general plant safety rules at all times that are posted on the Health and Safety board.

· Not knowingly operating faulty/defective or otherwise unsafe equipment

· Only operate equipment(s) on which training has been provided and feel that you can do so confidently and safely.

Job Requirements:

· Should have valid residency status of Canada.

· An unwavering commitment to punctuality and attendance.

· Previous 2 years machine operating experience.

· Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn

· Excellent time management & organizational skills.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

· Good mathematical and numerical reasoning skills/aptitude.

· Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
