Currently seeking a candidate who can keep records of incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment in the Shipping and Receiving Department at a local business.

 

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers
• Ensures that product to be shipped matches paperwork descriptions
• Inserts items into containers and takes what action is required to ensure product arrives at destination intact and undamaged
• Builds boxes, pallets and crates to insure adequate protection of product in transit
• Attaches shipping information onto crates or containers
• Fills out Bills of Lading, weights and shipping charges
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to departments.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
• Operates forklift, electric cart or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area
• Hand-loading shipments; up to 50lbs of repetitive lifting
