HR Generalist
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment
- Assists with routine recruiting functions, such as posting jobs internally and externally, and screening job applicants as requested.
Benefits Administration
- First point of contact for employees.
- Process employee enrollments and terminations as required.
- Prepare and maintain related benefits, records, and reports.
- Process vendor reports and invoices.
- Support and facilitate periodic and regular benefit plan evaluations and changes, including plan analysis, contract review, and employee communications.
- Administer Paid Time Off, short-term disability, and leave of absence programs.
- Document workflow and work procedures.
- Communicates with department heads, employees, and carriers to ensure compliance with Worker's Compensation, FMLA, STD, and LTD files, both active and inactive.
- Maintains open communication with the retirement plan administrator and other benefits administrators to ensure employees are informed regarding their retirement plan contributions, matches, and other benefits.
Employee Relations:
- Answers routine questions from employees and applicants about employment procedures, policies, benefits, and other HR-related topics.
- Identify personnel/management problems and notify the Human Resources Manager; make recommendations for solutions if appropriate.
- Counsel employees in effective employee relations practices.
- Orients new employees to policies and employee benefits.
- Conducts exit interviews for terminating employees.
- Assists with annual compliance reporting.
Education and experience:
- A bachelor's degree with 5 to 7 years of Human Resources experience, or, instead of a degree, 10 years related experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of experience administering benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K, Life, STD, LTD)
- Federal, state, and local laws about personnel administration and various compensation and benefit plans and practices.
- Practices and procedures specific to Human Resources.

- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Considerable knowledge of principles, practices, and laws related to personnel administration.
- Ability to be fair and objective in all matters.
Physical Demands:
Frequently lifts, carries, moves, and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted when performing essential job functions.
Typically, bends, stoops, crouches, ascends, and descends regularly when performing essential job functions.
Constantly observes, assesses, inspects, communicates, detects, conveys, and exchanges information when performing essential job functions.
