Sr. Accountant

Job Summary

A long-standing company in downtown Chattanooga with operations in Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant.  The selected candidate will work directly under the Controller. Duties include guidance and training of accounting staff, management of accounts payable/receivable, account reconciliation and assisting with financial statement preparation. The ability to work independently is an absolute must-have.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts
• Preparing financial reports
• Supporting the internal control system within the organization
• Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger
• Ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory requirements
• Preparing and assisting with audits
• Supporting the accounting department’s transition to new accounting software
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Active CPA license preferred
• At least three years of experience in a similar role
• Solid understanding of and ability to apply GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations
• Exceptional Excel skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong supervisory skills

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM in person. Remote work is not available.
