Bilingual Security Guard
Location: Chicago, IL

Pay Rate: $19/hour
Schedule: 5 days per week, all shifts are 6 hours (includes every other Saturday)
Assignment Length: Temporary (6–12 weeks)
Express Employment Professionals is hiring a bilingual Security Guard to support a local center dedicated to protecting children, supporting families, and fostering a safe and trauma-informed environment. This role requires professionalism, empathy, discretion, and a calm, friendly presence.
About the Role
The Security Guard serves as a first point of contact for children, families, staff, and visitors. Many individuals entering the center may be experiencing emotional distress or trauma. The ideal candidate understands the importance of safety paired with compassion, helping ensure every person feels protected, respected, and welcomed.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment through interior and exterior patrols
- Monitor surveillance cameras and security systems
- Greet visitors with professionalism and warmth while following screening and access protocols
- Maintain visitor logs and issue identification badges
- Respond appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or conflicts; coordinate with emergency services as needed
- Open and close the facility, securing all access points and setting alarms
- Manage badge access and maintain staff directories
- Receive and distribute mail and packages
- Provide occasional support at the reception desk
- Coordinate transportation services (e.g., Lyft or Uber) for clients or staff as directed
Qualifications
- Bilingual, Spanish speaking (required)
- Valid non-weapon PERC Card
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain at post for extended periods
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Calm, friendly, and professional in high-stress or sensitive situations
- Strong understanding of security procedures, confidentiality, and conflict de-escalation
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable working with children and families impacted by trauma
- Must successfully submit to and pass a DCFS background check
