Mold/Die Setter

Located in Rochester Hills, MI

We are seeking a skilled Mold Setter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and maintaining molds used in the production of plastic components. This role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of injection molds and presses, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Mold Setter will play a crucial role in ensuring production efficiency and quality.

Compensation and Hours:

• Competitive hourly pay rate $19.00 - $22.00/hr. (plus shift premium) based on experience.
• 2nd: 3:00pm to 11:30pm
• 3rd: 11:00pm to 7:30am

Responsibilities

• Set up and adjust molds for plastics blow molding and extrusion processes.
• Operate and monitor machinery, including logic controllers, to ensure proper functioning during production runs.
• Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to verify mold dimensions and product specifications.
• Fabricate components as needed to support production requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with lean manufacturing principles.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and optimize production processes.
• Operate forklifts safely for material handling when necessary.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on molds and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

• 2 years or more previous experience performing mold changes.
• Strong understanding of setup and operation of molds and presses.
• Thorough knowledge of lockout-tagout, electrical, hydraulics, hot runners, knockouts, clamps, bolts, screws, etc...
• Forklift and overhead crane experience moving molds; certification is preferred.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, stand, squat, climb, kneel, etc. to complete mold changes safely and efficiently.
• Mechanically inclined with experience using hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Other duties as assigned.
