Job Summary:The Payroll Specialist 1 is responsible for processing and distributing payroll and payroll information in a timely and accurate manner while ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations, as well as policies. This is a full time three month project! The wage range is $23.29-$32.02!
Job Requirements:Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant clerical/administrative experience, including experience working with payroll, time and attendance, and scheduling systems.
Preferred:
Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Processing:
Process bi-weekly payrolls to ensure accurate and timely wage payments for all employees.
Review bi-weekly Kronos timesheets and communicate with supervisors/employees regarding discrepancies.
Process voluntary employee deductions and ensure timely payments and reporting to vendors.
Manage garnishments, levies, wage assignments, and child support deductions, ensuring timely remittance.
Process checks and direct deposits, transmit banking information, and distribute payment notices.
Maintain a thorough understanding of pay policies and benefits to ensure consistency.
2. Payroll & Productivity Information Management:
Generate and review Ad Hoc reports for accuracy.
Research and respond to inquiries from managers and employees.
Provide feedback on pay policy discrepancies identified during timecard review.
3. Off-Cycle Payroll Processing:
Process termination, retroactive, and correction check requests as needed.
Verify request validity, compute amounts due, and issue payments in a timely manner.
Ensure termination payments include all deductions and adhere to legal limits.
4. Customer Service & Training:
Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with complex payroll issues, research discrepancies, and initiate problem resolution.
Train employees, supervisors, and managers on timesheet procedures via phone, email, and tutorials.
Maintain professionalism and comply with HIPAA and privacy policies.
5. Professional Development:
Actively participate in department meetings, discussions, and problem-solving initiatives.
Attend training sessions to enhance knowledge of pay practices and software systems.
Engage in committees or special interest meetings to improve job performance.
6. Additional Payroll Duties:
Process bonus payments as requested by HR and management.
Conduct payroll reconciliations for garnishments, levies, and wage assignments.
Perform G/L reconciliations for advances, self-pay/overpayments, legal deductions, and premium loans.
Ensure accuracy and timely submission of direct deposits, tax deposits, and retirement plan contributions.
Process and submit monthly vendor reports.
