Position Overview:
A ‘Class A’ Quality Technician will ensure the quality & precision of CNC-machined components for aerospace, medical and commercial applications. This senior role demands expertise in mechanical inspection, CMM programming, and AS9100D compliance, with a focus on tight tolerances (down to ±0.0003”). You’ll collaborate across teams, lead quality efforts during manager absences, and drive excellence in a dynamic job shop environment.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Reads and interpret blueprints and travelers to inspect complex, tight-tolerance parts.
• Verify part conformance using calipers, micrometers, and DCC CMMs (tolerances down to ±0.0003” precision).
• Sign off on 1st piece inspection and or in process inspections when parts are acceptable.
• When required program and operate CMM/Keyence systems for new part setups.
• When required Prepare AS9100D FAI reports for military/medical clients.
• Maintain open communication with the CNC operators and management regarding jobs status, problems or any changes to work in process.
• Monitor trends, detect defects, and communicate findings to CNC operators and management.
• Train junior technicians and act as department lead during Quality Manager’s PTO.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Keep work areas organized and clean.
• Other duties assigned by Quality Manager; as needed or required.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Ability to read and interpret complex blue prints including cutting plane lines and section views.
• A strong understanding of common Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards.
• Conscientious, detail oriented, organized and methodical work approach.
• Proficiency and experience using digital and non-digital micrometers w/vernier scale, calipers and other common shop measuring tools.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments at one time.
• Strong Excel skills for databases and data analysis.
• CMM & Keyence system programming skills.
• Prior CMM operating & programming experience required. PCDmis experience a plus.
• High School Diploma with 10+ years of experience in QC role in similar environment or
Associate or Technical certification with 5+ years’ experience in QC role in a similar environment
Supervision Received:
Intermediate Supervision. Once trained, a ‘Class A’ Quality Technician can operate independently within their area with an occasional check in from the QC manager. Regular communication with the QC manager is expected.
