Slitter Machine Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Slitter Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating slitting machines to convert large rolls of material (such as paper, plastic, foil, or metal) into narrower rolls according to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and monitor slitter machines according to work orders and production schedules.

• Load jumbo rolls and thread material through the slitter machine.

• Adjust machine settings including blade spacing, tension, and speed.

• Perform quality checks on finished rolls to ensure correct width, alignment, and material integrity.

• Identify and correct machine malfunctions or material defects.

• Record production data including quantities produced, downtime, and scrap.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.

• Perform routine machine maintenance and report mechanical issues to maintenance staff.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Prior experience operating slitting or converting machinery is highly desirable.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machine issues.

• Basic math skills and ability to read measuring instruments (ruler, micrometer, calipers).

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends if needed.

Preferred Skills:

• Forklift certification.

• Knowledge of different materials (e.g., plastics, foils, paper).

• Experience with computerized machine controls and data entry.
