We’re hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper / Controller to join the corporate team supporting a group of Spokane-based businesses, including multiple restaurant locations and affiliated entities. This key position is part of a tight-knit 4–5 person office team that provides critical support to 150 employees across the organization. It’s a highly impactful role at the heart of day-to-day operations, helping drive the continued success and growth of each business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-charge accounting for several separate entities with varying year-end dates
  • Manage and reconcile all financial transactions, general ledgers, and intercompany transfers
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, cash flow reports, and weekly updates to leadership
  • Supervise payroll and accounts payable functions, with backup support as needed
  • Oversee and manage employee benefits including medical, vision, LTD, and 401(k)
  • Administer 401(k) contributions, eligibility, distributions, and annual reconciliation
  • Process and file all tax documents: sales, excise, payroll, year-end reports, W-2s, 1099s
  • Reconcile bank accounts and sales reports (including gift card and delivery sales fees)
  • Calculate and distribute bonuses, owner distributions, and monthly franchise/ADI fees
  • Manage insurance applications and ensure timely premium payments
  • Support and train restaurant managers on accounting processes and performance reporting
  • Coordinate IT needs related to software and hardware across the business
  • Assist with audits, financial reporting, and ad hoc requests from ownership and operations
  • Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with all accounting standards

Routine Responsibilities Include:

  • Weekly: payroll processing, cash flow reporting, AP for corporate and real estate entities, sales reconciliation, accounting support to stores
  • Monthly: financial statements, GL reconciliation, tax reporting, bonus calculations, benefit payments
  • Quarterly: payroll taxes, 401(k) enrollments, unclaimed property review
  • Annually: tax prep for CPA, W-2s, 1099s, benefit audits, insurance renewals, budget setting, historical data maintenance

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping, controller, or finance management role
  • Proven success managing multiple entities with different fiscal year ends
  • Supervisory experience in accounting or payroll functions
  • Proficiency in Sage accounting software preferred; strong Excel and MS Office skills required
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, compliance standards, and financial reporting
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail orientation, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Positive, team-focused attitude with excellent communication skills
