Position Overview

As an Ophthalmic Technician II, you will perform advanced diagnostic testing, assist physicians during exams, prepare patients for evaluation, and ensure accurate, efficient clinical workflow. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting a high-volume ophthalmology practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, topography, IOL measurements, etc.)
• Conduct patient workups, including visual acuity, tonometry, refractions, and medical history
• Assist ophthalmologists during exams and minor procedures
• Accurately document findings and update EMR records in real time
• Prepare exam rooms, maintain equipment, and ensure clinical readiness
• Educate patients on testing procedures and follow-up instructions
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold patient confidentiality
• Support daily clinic flow and help troubleshoot equipment as needed

Qualifications

• Required: Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician (COA, COT, or equivalent experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology, diagnostic testing, and clinical workflow
• Proficiency with EMR systems and ophthalmic equipment
• Excellent communication, organization, and patient-care skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, professional, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
