Friday-Sunday, daytime hours

Our client is a government organization who is seeking Rink Attendants for a seasonal ice-skating rink during the holidays.

 

Responsibilities

• Customer service: Greeting patrons, providing information, and answering questions. Offer excellent customer service to all patrons. Greet all patrons with a smile and respond to their needs kindly and courteously.
• Safety: Monitoring the ice for hazards, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies.
• Maintenance: Performing minor synthetic ice rink maintenance, such as sweeping, squeegeeing, adding solution (lubricant) to synthetic surfaces, and operating equipment like blowers. Sharpen skates with an automated sharpener. Full training in this area will be provided.
• Equipment: Assisting with skate rentals, sanitizing skates, and inspecting rental equipment. Helping patrons buckle skates if needed.
• Cleanliness: Keeping the ice rink and tent area clean.
• Record keeping: Keeping records of daily attendance and incidents. Assuring all waivers are signed.
• Facility management: Locking up the facility at the end of the day and setting up the security system, if required.
• Special events: Collaborating with other team members on special events and programs to enhance our patron’s experience.
• Should be able to work outdoors in cold weather conditions Should be available to work nights and weekends.
• Any other ice rink-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work well in a team environment.
• Must be able to take directions from the Shift Manager and complete all tasks as assigned.
• Must be able to recognize problems as they arise and bring them to the attention of the Shift Manager.
• Must be able to assume a positive and active role at the rink, even while working under potentially stressful conditions (weather, upset or injured participants, etc.).
• Must have the ability to be firm with participants when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, facilities, and equipment. An ability to interact and communicate well with others is essential.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions efficiently and effectively.
• Be able to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility.
• High School Diploma/GED
• 6 months of customer service experience or recreation role
