Cafeteria Associate - 1st Shift

Salary: $15.00 / hr

We are looking for a dependable and customer-focused Cafeteria Associate to join a busy cafeteria team in Bloomington, IN. This position will assist with food preparation, salad bar setup, serving, stocking, cashier duties, and maintaining a clean and welcoming dining environment. The ideal candidate is a team player who takes pride in providing polite, courteous service and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

Job Summary

• Prepare menu items including hot foods, lunch meats, cheeses, vegetables, and salad bar items
• Set up and maintain the salad bar throughout meal periods
• Assist with the changeover from breakfast to lunch
• Stock food, supplies, and other cafeteria items as needed
• Operate the cash register during meal periods
• Serve food items from the hot bar
• Provide prompt, polite, and courteous customer service
• Clean and maintain stock rooms, kitchen areas, and dining areas
• Sweep and mop floors and maintain overall cafeteria cleanliness
• Communicate effectively with the Supervisor and other cafeteria personnel to support a productive team environment
• Assist with food preparation, stocking, customer service, and general cafeteria operations

Experience Required

• Previous food service, cafeteria, restaurant, or customer service experience is helpful but not required
• ServSafe certification is helpful, but not required
• Willingness to learn food preparation, serving, and cashier procedures

• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Dependable and able to work effectively as part of a team
• Able to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift
• Comfortable with frequent repetitive motions
• Able to frequently use hands to grasp, carry, feel, or touch
• Able to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed
• Able to work in a fast-paced food service environment

Pay: $15.00 / hr

Schedule: Mon-Fri 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM
