Manual Machinist – Up to $25/Hour

Direct Hire Position | 1st Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM | Springfield, OH

We're looking for an experienced manual machinist who takes pride in precision work and values craftsmanship. If you're skilled with traditional machining equipment and enjoy working with your hands to create quality components, this opportunity is for you.

Primary Responsibilities

You'll work with a full range of manual equipment including engine lathes, bridgeport-style mills, surface grinders, drill presses, and arbor presses. Your day-to-day work will involve turning, milling, boring, threading, and grinding electric motor components such as shafts, housings, end bells, and specialty parts. You'll cut keyways, face hubs, bore bearings, and perform whatever operations the blueprints require. The role also includes occasional saw cutting, basic welding, and fitting work. You'll interpret blueprints, sketches, and work directly with engineering as needed.

Required Qualifications

We're seeking candidates with demonstrated hands-on experience operating manual lathes and mills. Background in motor shop or job-shop environments is highly valued. You should be proficient at reading blueprints and comfortable using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators. Strong applied mathematics skills with fractions, decimals, and geometry are essential. This position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, and comfort standing throughout the shift. High school diploma or GED is required.
