Manual Machinist - Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for producing, repairing, and modifying components using a variety of manual machining equipment while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and safety.

Job Duties

• Operate manual machining equipment, including engine lathes, vertical mills, surface grinders, drill presses, and arbor presses
• Perform machining operations such as turning, milling, boring, threading, drilling, and grinding
• Machine and repair components including shafts, housings, end bells, hubs, bearings, and specialty parts
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work instructions
• Set up and measure workpieces using precision measuring instruments
• Cut keyways, bore bearing fits, and perform additional machining operations as required
• Perform basic fitting, fabrication, and occasional welding tasks
• Collaborate with engineering and production personnel as needed
• Maintain a safe and organized work area while following established quality standards

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating manual lathes and milling machines required
• Experience in a motor repair shop, machine shop, or job-shop manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
• Strong mathematical skills, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and basic geometry
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
• High school diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
• Frequent use of hands and manual dexterity for machine operation and measurement tasks
• Ability to work safely around machining equipment and materials

Schedule

• Full-time position
• First Shift
• Hours: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
