Welder/Fitter Job Responsibilities
As a Welder/Fitter, you will be responsible for metal fabrication, welding, fitting, layout, and related production tasks while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and accuracy.
- Perform metal layout, fitting, and fabrication according to engineered drawings, blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Operate welding and burning equipment safely and accurately.
- Perform hand burning, grinding, and minor welding equipment repairs as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to accurately complete layouts and shoot studs according to project specifications.
- Measure and lay out materials using tape measures and other measuring tools.
- Inspect work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding and fabrication area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
- Maintain reliable attendance and contribute to daily production goals.
- Perform additional welding, fitting, fabrication, and production duties as assigned.
Welder/Fitter Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Welder, Welder/Fitter, Fitter, Fabricator, or Structural Welder in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineered drawings, and fabrication plans.
- Experience with metal fabrication, welding, fitting, burning, grinding, and layout.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds frequently without assistance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must successfully pass a mandatory welding skills test and math evaluation.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work effectively as part of a production team.
