Firearm Counterperson – Retail Store
Location: Yuba Sutter Area
Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour (DOE)

Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a local sporting goods and firearm retailer in Yuba City to hire a Weekend Firearm Counterperson. This is a full-time opportunity with a schedule that may vary weekly based on store needs — however, employees will always receive back-to-back days off each week.

This position is ideal for someone with strong product knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for helping customers make informed purchasing decisions in a professional, compliant environment.

Position Overview:

You’ll be responsible for greeting and assisting customers, maintaining accurate firearm transaction records, and ensuring all merchandise is properly stocked and displayed. This is a hands-on role that blends retail sales, compliance, and customer engagement.

Essential Functions:

Provide outstanding customer service and create a welcoming, informative experience for every customer.
Assist customers in selecting firearms and ammunition by identifying their needs and offering knowledgeable recommendations.
Accurately complete and review 4473 Forms and other required documentation in compliance with ATF Federal and State Regulations.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of firearms, accessories, and ammunition.
Maintain proper organization, stock levels, and presentation at the gun counter.
Stay informed on current sales, promotions, and pricing updates.
Assist with seasonal merchandising and product placement throughout the store.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and fully supplied.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications:

Proficient knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and related products.
Experience with firearm sales and customer service required.
Working knowledge of the Gun Control Act (GCA) and ATF regulations.
Attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate product knowledge clearly.
Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with product stocking or light lifting as needed.
