Boiler Technician

Salary: Starting at $30.00 hourly

Express Employment Professionals are hiring a Plant Technician for a local Flathead Valley company!

Work schedule: Shift Schedule: Rotating Shift.  Hours are 5 AM-5 PM and 5 PM-5 AM 12Hr. Shift lunch and breaks are paid.

Responsibilities:

1. Operates computers and and conveyer controls to bring fuel to the boilers.
2. Operation and maintenance on the Hog.
3. Some basic water chemistry tests, including reading and logging water meters.
4. Changes water and air filters.
5. Reading and logging data on water meters, gages, sight glasses, etc.
6. Assists in repairs to boiler, piping, valves and gauges as necessary.
7. Monitors chips, sawdust, shavings and bark and reports to the Power Plant Operator on any fuel issues.
8. Monitors the status of the truck bins and fuel storage bins.
9. Makes periodic fire-watch and security rounds.
10. Plant wide fire protection inspections, maintenance and repairs.
11. Ash Handling and disposal.
12. Plowing/shoveling snow and general grounds work in the Cogen/Kiln areas.
13. Works in accordance with safe operating practices.
14. Maintains a clean work area.

Requirements:

• A minimum of one year of experience in boiler and steam operations, which is preferred
• A current 1st-class or 2nd-class Montana Boiler Operator License, or the ability to obtain one, is mandatory
• Candidates should have knowledge and experience with steam systems, pumps, turbines, and associated piping, as well as basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Candidates must be able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
• Basic computer skills are required
• Safety performance and attendance are key requirements.
