We are seeking detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billers to join our healthcare team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for accurately processing patient billing information, submitting claims to insurance companies, and ensuring timely reimbursement for medical services. This role requires strong knowledge of medical coding, insurance guidelines, and compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and verify patient information, diagnosis codes, and treatment details for billing accuracy
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies (electronic and paper formats)
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies
• Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts
• Communicate with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff regarding billing issues
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer policies, and federal regulations
• Maintain accurate records of billing activities and patient account histories
• Assist with patient billing inquiries and provide clear explanations of charges
• Generate reports on billing activity, collections, and outstanding balances
• Collaborate with coding staff to ensure proper CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding

Required Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in medical billing preferred
• 2+ years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management
• Proficiency with billing software (e.g., Kareo, Athenahealth, Epic, or similar)
• Strong understanding of insurance processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payers
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and customer service abilities
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS)
• Experience in a specialty practice (e.g., cardiology, dermatology, orthopedics)
• Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.) is a plus
