Are you an experienced MIG Welder looking for a hands-on position working with large structural steel components? A Springfield-area manufacturer is seeking a dependable Structural Welder to weld heavy steel assemblies, operate fabrication equipment, and support production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
- Perform MIG welding on structural steel components and assemblies
- Pass and maintain qualification to AWS D1.1 structural welding standards
- Weld I-beams, columns, plates, and other heavy structural steel components
- Perform flat, vertical, and occasional overhead welds
- Use oxy-fuel torches and plasma cutting equipment
- Operate grinders, needle guns, wire wheel brushes, and other fabrication tools
- Rotate and position large structural components using overhead cranes
- Assist with material movement using cranes and forklifts
- Read blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
- Inspect finished welds to ensure quality standards are met
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
Qualifications
- MIG welding experience required
- Ability to pass an AWS D1.1 weld test
- Previous structural steel welding experience preferred
- Experience using torches and plasma cutters
- Ability to accurately use tape measures and layout tools
- Experience operating grinders, needle guns, and fabrication equipment
- Overhead crane experience preferred
- Forklift experience is a plus
- Ability to read fabrication drawings required
- Ability to read electrical drawings is a plus
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Physical Requirements
- Lift, position, and work with heavy structural steel components
- Stand, bend, climb, and move throughout the shift
- Work in a fabrication and welding environment
- Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and fabrication equipment
- Perform repetitive welding and material handling tasks
