We have an opening for a CDL-A Flatbed Delivery Driver position working at a metal fabricating and distribution company located in Decatur, AL. This is an evaluation-to-hire opportunity with potential for full-time placement.

 

*** THIS POSITION REQUIRED 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE HAULING 53’ FLATBED TRAILERS ***

 

This delivery driver position is responsible for the transportation of material and safe operation of company provided vehicle to meet customer delivery requirements.

 

Skills/Qualifications

Must have a minimum of two years of experience in operating CDL flat-bed hauling.

Must have a valid Class A CDL Driver’s License and clear MVR and PSP Dashboard record.

Report any citations received immediately and take photos of any cited deficiencies.

Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policy manuals)

Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Basic measuring skills to read measuring devices.

Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination

Assist customers with identifying materials to be offloaded at delivery location.

Verifies material and piece count at point of delivery with customer and signs Bill of Lading (BOL) with date of delivery

Collects correct amount of funds for COD payments from customers and secures payments with BOL until deposited in drop box daily.

Complete all documents in Accident Kit with photos if involved in any type of accident.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.

Follow all DOT rules and regulations.

Strap, chain and secure materials to ensure safe transport to designated delivery points.

Tarp loads when required by customer or due to weather conditions.

Checks load for proper loading and that all materials are on the truck prior to departing.

Ensures any necessary repairs required are made to truck or trailer prior to departure.

Operate the vehicle safely and in accordance with local jurisdictions.

Maintain records/electronic logs as prescribed by DOT and Company policy.

Operate company issued electronic and/or communication equipment professionally and respectfully.

Maintain a professional demeanor, presentation and interaction with customers.

Coordinate with Transportation/Shipping department to update any delays/returns or questions on deliveries.
