CNC Milling Setup Machinist

A well-established precision machine shop servicing the military and aerospace industries is seeking for an experienced CNC Milling Setup Machinist as a fulltime regular employee at its Union-NJ location.

Purpose:

  • Setup CNC Milling Machines and Program as needed
  • Perform tool changes
  • Inspect first piece using measuring devices such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers

Key Duties

  •  Set up the appropriate work center/ machine with the required tooling (set to proper attitudes and lengths), fixturing and programs loaded
  • Make all necessary adjustments to produce product that conforms to all applicable specifications and requirements, including achieving the specified time allotments for set up and pieces per hour
  • Once initial set up is accomplished, provide ongoing support to the Operator
  • Plan and compile the necessary tool(s), equipment and personnel to complete the task
  • Ensure the required documentation is available and being adhered to
  • Ensure all the required applicable and necessary procedures and policies are being complied
  • Must be capable of providing "on the job" training to Trainees, Operators I and II, and capable of coordinating with Inspection, Quality Control and Engineering personnel
  • Coordinate with Inspection, Quality Control and Engineering personnel
  • To stop production at any stage if the process is producing nonconforming product
  • Identify Continuous Improvement Opportunity

Key Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher
  • 5+ years of CNC Milling Machine Setup/Operation/Tool-Changes/Inspection experience
  • Experience in Inspecting the first piece using measuring devices such as gauges, calipers, micrometers
  • Experience in reading Blue Prints / Drawings
  • Familiarity with plant tools and equipment including gages, calipers, meters etcetera
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to handle physical workload lift up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of GMP, SOP, BOM pertaining to manufacturing industry
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety Practices
  • Excellent Communication Skills in English language
