Job summary: Duties and responsibilities will include implementing network security and integrity procedures to ensure integration with the organization's infrastructure, coordinating and overseeing the installation and maintenance of all network related hardware and software systems, leading the research and development of innovative and progressive re-design and configuration plans for all network operating systems and system applications to address identified gaps and build business cases to support acquisition and budget requirements, conducting analysis of network performance and traffic to identify cost-effective optimization strategies to improve performance and reliability, provide project leadership in conjunction with other IT architecture experts on the execution of infrastructure initiatives, providing input into yearly and long-term budget requirements for all network and server related hardware infrastructure and software licensing, researching and recommending products and services and managing relationships with network service and component vendors, collaborating with service providers to troubleshoot infrastructure related technology issues, evaluating and testing existing network security standards ensuring adherence to industry best practices, assessing the suitability and feasibility of emerging technology solutions and products to meet the company's objectives, monitoring and analyzing network/protocol and performance across the organization's LANs and WANs, installing and maintaining all network hardware and equipment, performing ongoing service reporting of network metrics related to established service level agreements, maintaining network documentation, coaching and mentoring employees in the IT Department, managing all aspects of the company's virtual server environment, planning and executing operating system and major hardware upgrades and projects from conception to completion, providing operational support to key environments, updating knowledge base with problem fixes and system knowledge, monitoring assigned systems to ensure optimal performance and to determine system upgrade/replacement schedules, participating in mandated projects as a representative of the IT Department, implementing the company's telecommunications infrastructure, and analyzing and resolving telecommunications circuit issues in a timely and accurate fashion.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm 


  • Completion of post-secondary education in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional (CCNA/CCNP), Systems Security Certified Professional (SSCP), and/or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Related IT professional designations (i.e. Cisco, MCSE, CNA, CNE, A+ etc.) an asset 
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a network engineering role within a complex systems environment including experience designing and implementing local area networks, wide area network, wireless network, and cloud based network solutions 
  • Effective project management and leadership skills to coordinate work with teams of IT professionals and external vendors 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of internetworking hardware and services to effectively troubleshoot and maintain network security and infrastructure 
  • Strong working knowledge of of current network hardware, protocols, and internet standards, including TCP/IP, IPSEC, DNS, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, NAT as well as technical knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 networking and routing protocols including Spanning Tree, RIP, CDP, VTP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF
  • Experience with Microsoft Server (Physical and Virtual) technologies (designations such as MCSE and MSCA Cloud preferred) 
  • Thorough and up to date knowledge of network and IT infrastructure best practices and emerging trends
  • Working knowledge of switchers, routers, firewalls, Wi-Fi and access points, virtue private networks (VPN) and remote connectivity, intrusion protection systems, network access control, content filtering, malware detection, vulnerability and security scanning, penetration testing, and domain name systems
  • Working technical knowledge of of QoS and VoIP implementation and support
  • Knowledge of software defined networking, centralized device configuration management tools, SCCM is preferred, and open source networking technologies is an asset
  • Experience in vulnerability management tools and security incident response procedures including risk and impact analysis 
  • Understanding of common security frameworks such as CSC, NIST, and ISO
  • Experience with scripting language to assist in the automation of common tasks 
  • Must be willing to work on-call during rotating weekends 
  • Requires a valid Driver's License with the use of a vehicle
