Chemical Plant Operator – Safety-Sensitive Position

Pay: $18.00–$22.00/hour
Schedule: Rotating shifts – 5:00 AM–1:00 PM | 1:00 PM–9:00 PM | 9:00 PM–5:00 AM

Full-Time Position

Express Employment Professionals is currently interviewing candidates for a Chemical Plant Operator position with a local company in Hot Springs.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring candidates who are dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an active plant environment.

Schedule

This position follows a weekly rotating schedule:

• 5:00 AM–1:00 PM
• 1:00 PM–9:00 PM
• 9:00 PM–5:00 AM

The 1:00 PM–9:00 PM shift will also work an additional 8-hour night shift on Saturday or Sunday approximately once every 5 weeks, on average. The frequency may vary depending on operational needs.

What You'll Do

• Operate and monitor plant equipment, controls, and instrumentation
• Follow established operating procedures and safety protocols
• Monitor flow meters and process controls
• Assist with loading and unloading tankers
• Perform material handling duties
• Package products and assist with sample collection
• Participate in daily plant housekeeping
• Provide general plant support and assist with various operational tasks
• Learn and apply basic pump technology, process controls, instrumentation, and chemistry
• Think critically and respond appropriately to changing conditions
• Work safely while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow directions and established procedures
• Basic math skills
• Ability to effectively use controls and instrumentation
• Quick-thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Willingness to learn new processes and technology
• Comfortable working outdoors and in an industrial environment
• Comfortable wearing required PPE
• Ability to remain active and moving throughout the workday
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to pass a background check

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Forklift certification or forklift experience
• Machine operating experience
• OSHA-compliant HAZWOPER training
• Understanding of pump technology
• Basic knowledge of process controls and instrumentation
• Understanding of process flow and distillation
• Basic knowledge of chemistry
• Understanding of mass and energy balance

Work Environment

• Approximately 70% of the work is performed outdoors
• Industrial plant environment
• Must be comfortable around equipment, machinery, chemicals, and varying temperatures

• Strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and following procedures
