Position: Purchasing/Inventory Specialist
Location: Green Bay
Summary: Under the direction of the Office Manager, the candidate is responsible for executing the purchasing process to ensure vendor supplied materials, supplies and services are available for use when needed. The buyer sometimes negotiates vendor terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of inventory demands; and quality and schedule requirements. Candidate will work as a liaison between order entry and shipping department, working as the primary inventory specialist.
Responsibilities: Place, prepare and distribute purchase orders for raw materials, supplies and services; including safety supplies, office supplies and equipment. Review bill of materials for sales orders and order materials as needed. Document material due dates and all pertinent information on the Sales Order system to communicate with Scheduling and Customer order entry team.
Assist in obtaining supplier quotations
May be required to research and identify reliable suppliers for new products and processes.
Spot check vendors to ensure pricing company pays is market price
Develop and strengthen relationships with preferred suppliers.
Meet with vendors and maintain product information, and relay to sales departments.
Follow up with existing purchase orders to ensure on time delivery. Communicate deviations to appropriate team members
Expedite orders as needed.
Maintain and manage purchase orders from placement to reconciliation.
Coordinate shipments of customer-supplied materials with primary suppliers, as needed.
Able to read or learn to read customer and assembly part prints.
Collaborate with multiple departments across the entire organization.
Oversee company kit building projects
Work with shipping department to perform cycle counting
Oversee inventory management bin location system
Help stage components for work orders and shipping functions
Understand and maintain company freight carriers
Use ERP purchasing program to maintain inventory levels
Update ERP system with product information to maintain relevant information
Requirements: Education/Experience: High School diploma/GED with at least three years buying experience in a manufacturing environment or a four year degree in a business or technical discipline with at least one year buying experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Skills: Proficiency with Word/Excel/PowerPoint required. One year of ERP work experience (work experience with SysPro ERP is preferred). Strong communication, organizational and negotiating skills are also required.
