This position is ideal for individuals with a construction background who enjoy working outdoors, supporting skilled crews, and contributing to the successful erection of commercial and industrial steel structures.

As a Field Laborer, you will play a critical role in supporting structural steel installation, material handling, site preparation, and general construction operations. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, physically capable, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews with the erection and assembly of structural steel frameworks
• Perform material handling, loading, unloading, and staging of steel components
• Support structural steel installation activities on commercial and industrial job sites
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively
• Assist with rigging, signaling, and positioning of structural steel members
• Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications
• Perform measuring, layout, and alignment tasks as directed
• Assist with welding preparation and support activities
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Conduct site preparation and general labor duties as needed
• Inspect, maintain, and properly store tools and equipment
• Follow all job site safety regulations, including fall protection requirements
• Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects efficiently

Qualifications

• Previous construction experience required; structural steel experience preferred
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled shop and outdoor job site environments
• Familiarity with construction tools, equipment, and safe work practices
• Understanding of rigging, signaling, and material handling procedures preferred
• Ability to read measuring devices and perform basic construction layout tasks
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn
• Ability to work at heights and in physically demanding conditions
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and at elevated heights
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
