The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the grounds and animal habitats. This includes routine tasks like landscaping, trash removal, ensuring proper waste management, and assisting with facility maintenance to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both animals and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness of the grounds, including walking paths, animal enclosures, gardens, and visitor areas.
- Perform landscaping duties such as mowing lawns, trimming trees, planting flowers, and general garden maintenance.
- Ensure that all trash and recycling is properly collected and disposed of in accordance with company policies.
- Assist in the upkeep of animal habitats, including cleaning and maintaining enclosures, water features, and barriers.
- Monitor and report on the condition of animal facilities and grounds, including identifying and addressing any maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Assist with event setups and breakdowns as needed.
- Support animal care staff by assisting with the preparation of habitats or enclosures for new animals or exhibits.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols when using equipment, chemicals, or when working around animals.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or facility maintenance preferred.
- Ability to operate various landscaping and maintenance tools and machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and grounds maintenance techniques.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
- Good communication and team collaboration skills.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires physical labor, including lifting, bending, and long hours outdoors.
