Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Metallurgical Technician to support metallurgical testing and analysis of additively manufactured (3D-printed) metals and aerospace components. This role involves sample preparation, material testing, microscopic examination, and laboratory support to ensure quality and accuracy in material validation.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in science, engineering, or a related technical field preferred.

• 2+ years of laboratory experience through education or industry preferred.

• Experience with metallographic sample preparation, laboratory equipment, and material testing preferred.

• Familiarity with optical and scanning electron microscopes, metallic powders, and aerospace materials is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently or collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

• U.S. Citizenship required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare metallic samples for metallurgical examination through sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching, and imaging.

• Operate optical and scanning electron microscopes to analyze metallic samples and material properties.

• Conduct metallic powder testing, hardness testing, microhardness testing, and material analysis.

• Collect, document, and analyze test results while preparing accurate technical reports.

• Maintain laboratory equipment, manage consumable inventory, and support procurement of necessary supplies.

• Develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance laboratory efficiency, quality, and safety.

• Support the Materials and Processes Department with testing, validation, and additional manufacturing activities while maintaining safe laboratory practices.
