Technical Assistant – Laboratory / Quality Control

Job Summary

a local chemical manufacturing is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Technical Assistant to support daily operations within the laboratory and technology department. This position involves preparing samples, assisting with laboratory testing, maintaining equipment, managing chemical inventory, and ensuring the lab remains clean, organized, and safe. The Technical Assistant will also provide backup support for quality control (QC) activities as needed.

The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable following technical instructions, and has an interest in laboratory work, testing, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory samples by weighing, mixing, labeling, and organizing materials.

• Assist with laboratory testing, sample analysis, and data collection.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory work areas.

• Calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.

• Monitor chemical inventory and ensure proper labeling and storage.

• Prepare shipping documentation and coordinate the shipment of samples.

• Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain required documentation.

• Provide backup support for quality control activities as needed.

• Assist with basic administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Associate degree or coursework in chemistry, biology, or a related field preferred.

• Basic understanding of laboratory safety and proper chemical handling preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Ability to follow written instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and established safety guidelines.

• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
