Probe Assembly Technician

Schedule: (M-F) 7am - 3:30pm

Pay Rate: $30 - $35/hr

Responsibilities

• Production- the primary responsibility will be production work on probes. This will include prep work (checking, modifying, cleaning and testing parts as necessary), assembling parts and final QC testing and documentation.
• Lab maintenance- along with the other users of the lab, employee will be responsible for upkeep of the lab. This will include clean-ups, as well as ordering lab supplies and inventory parts. The production parts need to be organized, maintained and inventoried periodically.
• Core skills: 1. Good dexterity- ability to work with small items. 2. Ability to follow build sheets, assembly diagrams and written procedures. 3. Organized and fastidious- keeping the process clean and well-controlled avoids introducing early problems that cascade into larger issues. 4. Problem solving- ability to troubleshoot when assemblies don’t meet the QC standards. 5. Documentation- careful attention to quantitatively characterizing the products.
• Advanced skills: 1. Technical background- some knowledge of chemistry, physics or optical/mechanical engineering is a plus. 2. CAD familiarity- ability to read a 2D drawing. 3. Machining- ability to modify parts, as well as making prototypes and one-offs.
