Apartment Maintenance Technician

Located in Grand Rapids, MI

Salary: $20-$25/HR DOE

Apartment Maintenance Technician Job Summary:

A property management company in the Grand Rapids area is looking for an experienced Apartment Maintenance Technician to join its team. This position is best suited for someone who can work independently, troubleshoot maintenance issues, complete work orders, and help turn vacant apartments efficiently.

Apartment Maintenance Technician Requirements:

• Complete resident work orders and general apartment repairs
• Perform vacant unit turns and make-ready work
• Troubleshoot plumbing issues and complete common repairs
• Diagnose basic HVAC issues, including thermostats, furnaces, and furnace error codes
• Complete light electrical repairs, including outlets, switches, fixtures, and related troubleshooting
• Repair drywall, doors, cabinets, window screens, fixtures, and other apartment components
• Perform preventative maintenance and identify repairs before they become larger issues
• Determine when a repair can be completed in-house versus when an outside contractor is needed
• Work independently while maintaining quality and attention to detail

Schedule & Pay: 

• 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday OT as needed/must be able to be on call
• $20-$25/HR

Apartment Maintenance Technician Qualifications:

• Previous apartment, property, facilities, or residential maintenance experience required
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, and general repairs
• Basic HVAC troubleshooting experience strongly preferred
• Ability to recognize and diagnose furnace/thermostat issues and determine when contractor support is needed
• Experience completing apartment turns and resident work orders
• Ability to use power tools and basic hand tools
• Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and basic maintenance tools
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as needed
• Must be comfortable participating in an on-call rotation after training
