Production Worker | DeKalb, IL

Express Employment Professionals is hiring Production Workers for a local manufacturing company. This position supports the production, processing, and inspection of wire products while meeting safety, quality, and production goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment used for wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, spooling, and cutting.

  • Load wire rods, reels, spools, and other raw materials into production equipment.

  • Measure wire diameter, length, and tolerances using gauges, calipers, and micrometers.

  • Inspect products for breaks, surface flaws, and dimensional defects.

  • Package, label, and move finished reels and coils.

  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.

  • Perform basic machine adjustments, cleaning, and routine maintenance as trained.

  • Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and required personal protective equipment.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, production issues, and quality concerns to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred; wire, metal processing, or extrusion experience is a plus.

  • Ability to read work orders, production schedules, and basic technical documents.

  • Basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools.

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.

  • Dependable attendance, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Lift, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Bend, climb, and perform manual material handling.

  • Work safely around moving machinery and rotating equipment.

  • Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, metal shavings, and lubricants.

  • Shift work, overtime, and weekend availability may be required.
