Class A Welder – MIG & TIG

 

Express Employment Professionals is hiring an experienced Class A Welder for a client in the Rochester, NY area! This opportunity is ideal for a skilled welder who can work independently, interpret complex blueprints, and fabricate high-quality components using MIG and TIG welding techniques.

In this role, you will complete a variety of welding projects, fabricate directly from prints without fixtures, and collaborate with engineering to develop prototypes and welding fixtures.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate MIG and TIG welding equipment to fabricate components according to customer drawings, blueprints, and job travelers.

• Interpret advanced weld symbols and accurately measure and lay out components.

• Adjust welding settings and techniques to accommodate varying steel thicknesses.

• Fabricate parts from prints without fixtures and assist with prototype and fixture development.

• Verify part numbers and ensure completed work meets customer specifications and quality standards.

• Meet production timelines while maintaining accurate, consistent workmanship.

• Operate grinders, drills, band saws, and torches.

• Communicate material shortages and production concerns to the supervisor.

• Complete required production records and documentation.

• Assist in training new employees on safe and efficient fabrication and welding methods.

• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Relevant welding education or previous work experience demonstrating advanced welding and fabrication skills.

• Proficiency in both MIG and TIG welding, including machine setup and producing quality welds.

• Advanced ability to read blueprints and interpret weld symbols.

• Ability to fabricate independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to pass an in-house welding test and demonstrate skills necessary for welding certification.

• Strong measuring, layout, and attention-to-detail skills.

• Knowledge of the metric system preferred.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move 25–50 pounds.

• Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform hands-on fabrication tasks.

• Meet 20/20 vision standards, with corrective lenses if needed, and perform tasks requiring close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

• Must supply your own welding helmet and safety shoes.

• Wear required protective equipment, including safety glasses, a welding helmet, grinding shield, hearing protection, gloves, and appropriate clothing.
