Position Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Steering & Controls Technician for a manufacturing facility in Sparta, TN. This position is responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting, and packaging steering and control system components while meeting production, quality, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Duties

• Assemble steering and control system components according to specifications and work instructions.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and production equipment safely and efficiently.
• Inspect parts and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Perform functional testing of completed assemblies.
• Identify and report defective materials, product issues, or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies.
• Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives.
• Keep workstations clean and organized.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and material handling as needed.
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing, assembly, or production experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to read and follow written work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer skills a plus.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent use of hands for assembly and inspection tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

Desired Skills

• Experience with mechanical or hydraulic assemblies.
• Manufacturing or assembly line experience.
• Quality inspection experience.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to learn multiple production processes.
